MSc in Computer Science Engineering
Master's degree in computer engineering with Critical Systems as main and Intelligent Systems as minor specialisation. Diploma grade 4.82/5.00, graduated "excellent with highest honours" (cum laude) in the Critical Systems Research Group (ftsrg). Thesis on complex event processing for design-space exploration.
- Diploma grade 4.82 / 5.00, excellent with highest honours
- Specialisations: Critical Systems (main), Intelligent Systems (minor)
- 126 ECTS over four semesters
- Integrated BSc–MSc (IMSc) talent programme
- Complementary Human-Centred AI Masters (HCAIM) programme
- Erasmus semester at the University of Porto
The MSc programme at BME's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (VIK) was where my interests settled on critical and intelligent systems: how to specify, verify and test systems whose failures matter. I graduated in the Critical Systems Research Group (ftsrg) of the faculty's Department of Artificial Intelligence and Systems Engineering (MIT).
It was a full-time, state-funded programme taught in Hungarian. Over four semesters I completed 126 ECTS (the full course list is under Coursework).
Specialisations
- Critical Systems (main specialisation). Formal methods, model-based systems design, software and systems verification, cyber-physical systems, and laboratories on critical systems integration and critical architectures.
- Intelligent Systems (minor specialisation). Machine learning, probabilistic inference and decision support, complex AI applications, and a laboratory on cooperation and machine learning.
I continued in the faculty's Integrated BSc–MSc (IMSc) talent programme, and alongside the degree I completed the Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence Masters (HCAIM) programme, an EU-defined curriculum on explainability, fairness and the societal impact of AI (see HCAIM & the Utrecht intensive programme). The transcript lists it as an additional specialisation from spring 2023, and the faculty confirmed its completion in January 2024.
Thesis
My thesis, Complex Event Processing for Design-Space Exploration, supervised by Dr. Kristóf Marussy, studied how to generate test sequences for context-dependent cyber-physical systems, such as an autonomous car whose correct behaviour depends on the surrounding traffic. It took up the last two semesters (Diploma Thesis Design 1 and 2, 30 ECTS, both graded excellent). The details are on the thesis page. An earlier version of the work won 2nd place at the 2023 Scientific Students' Association Conference.
Internship
The programme includes a 240-hour professional internship, which I completed at Artillence between April and June 2023, as part of my work on Valeo's inventory management system.
Semester abroad
I spent the autumn semester of 2023/24 at the University of Porto (FEUP) on Erasmus, taking cloud computing, data integration and HCI (details).
Outcome
I completed all coursework requirements in December 2023 and graduated on 25 January 2024 as a Computer Science Engineer (MSc), with a diploma grade of 4.82/5.00 and the overall classification excellent with highest honours.
