WASP Software Engineering and Technology Cluster Workshop 2026: research presentation
Presentation of my PhD project to the WASP software engineering and technology cluster: objectives, the multi-step refinement approach, SceneGEMS and the roadmap towards simulation-based assurance at scale.
WASP groups its PhD students into thematic clusters. At the 2026 workshop of the software engineering and technology cluster I presented Model-Driven Scenario-Based Assurance for the COLREGS Compliance of Autonomous Surface Vehicles.
The talk covered:
- Why COLREGS assurance needs systematic scenario generation rather than historical data or stochastic testing.
- Objectives O1–O3: specification, generation and execution.
- How: multi-step refinement with the Refinery graph solver, and the key design choices (constraint satisfaction as search with NSGA-II/III, or rejection sampling).
- Status and outlook: functionally complete suites up to six vessels, a preliminary static trajectory generator, simulation integration through SceneGEMS and the WARA-PS core system, and the open questions about dynamic trajectories and richer simulators.
